Eddie Died on June 15, 2019
Eddie loved Hockey, and as he got older the cost of Hockey went up too, whether it was for House, Travel, or Tournaments. The Travis Family would like to sponsor selected families for the 2020-21 Hockey Season. We want to give other children the opportunity to play this spectacular Sport.
An essay is required for participants that wish to be sponsored.
In the essay you have to explain...
1. How hockey has/will impact your daily life?
2. What your favorite Hockey Team & Player is?
3. Why you choose this Team & Player?
4. What kind of community service have you done/will do?
Eddie had a bright future ahead of him, sadly Eddie will never achieve his dreams. We hope that in some way, we can help other kids to continue with their hockey dreams.
We ask that essay's be attached to participant's registration form. As deadline for registration is May 1, 2021.
The Travis & Rybarczyk Family will read the essay's and announce the winners on the day of the event.

Eddie Travis lV has been on the ice since the age of 6. We enrolled him in the Learn to Skate program at Holiday Twin Rinks. In 2007, he started playing hockey with the Hamburg Hawks & Holiday Twin Rinks ( Dip N Dots). In the early years, Eddie struggled with skating backwards, stopping with his left foot, and controlling the puck. With help from his coaches each year Eddie excelled in hockey. He became a power player. "The Speed Demon", we would hear parents say. Eddie was known as the Enforcer. No matter how big his opponent was, Eddie would go after them for the puck. Eddie participated in two High School Skills Competitions at the Harbor Center with his teammates. In 2010, under the coaching of Dave Luby they won the Mite Division Championship ( Blackhawks). In 2017, under the coaching of Mike Meca they won the ELPS JV Hockey Championship. His last year of hockey he played for the Southtown Stars, under the Coaching of Mike Woods. Eddie's team played in Brockport, NY in the David Bigelow Memorial Tournment. They won the championship 12-3. This was the last game Eddie played. Eddie said, "Playing Hockey has taught me many things; Respect, Courage, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, Trust, and how to make friends. But most of all it has taught me that no matter what the score board says, you are still part of a team. You win as a team, you lose as a team." Eddie said to him that's what is important- being part of a team means family.
Eddie loved playing hockey....
We want to give other kids the experience like Eddie had.
The 1st Annual "Hockey Skill's Competition" Memorial Event to honor Eddie Travis lV, is a way for kids to learn skills needed to play hockey.
As a competition it is for kids to try their best while being scored on various skill stations. Awards & Prizes will given to the top 3 in each age group for each skill station.

Everyone could see the love they had for one another. On June 14, 2019 Eddie & Lizzy were getting ready for Eddies Prom. A day of preparing not seeing each other til they got to Eddie's house for pictures. It felt like their wedding day. When Lizzy walked through the door, the smile Eddie & Lizzy gave each other was breathtaking. Both family's came to take pictures of Eddie & Lizzy, Tom & Maya at Botanical Gardens, and the Albright Knox Art Gallery. A night of dancing, smiling, laughing, & kissing. After prom they went midnight bowling with friends. The night was perfect. The Next Morning, June 15, 2019 Tragedy.....

At 8:01 am Eddie car was T-Boned by another vehicle in front of the YMCA in West Seneca. Eddie was killed instantly. Lizzy was rushed to ECMC where she underwent emergency surgery. There was rumors that because it was prom night that Eddie & Lizzy were drinking. That was not the case. They were Drug /Alcohol Free.
Eddie and Lizzy were starting their life, after graduation Eddie was going to start a full time job at a excavation company. Lizzy had just finished her first year of collage at EEC South.
Eddie was killed a week before graduation. Eddie was a safe driver, he often watched his niece and nephew. He drove them around many times. All Eddie wanted out of life was to make everyone happy.
Lizzy has physically recovered, emotionally she has not. Her soulmate was taken from her on that day. We believe Eddie saved her that day. He was protecting her, as he said he always would.
We love you, Eddie!

The wake service was overwhelming for our family. So many people paying their respects to Eddie. 5 hours Eddie's parents and sister stood by his side as many came to say their goodbyes. Telling Eddie's family what a great guy Eddie was, that they should be proud. Eddie touched so many lives with his Smile, Kindness, Respect, & Love.
The funeral service on Wednesday June 19, final goodbyes we said as a procession of 125+ vehicles made their way to Holy Cross Cemetery.
The overwhelming love and support will be forever in our hearts.
REST IN PEACE EDDIE,
We Love You
Forever & Always
